GETTING THE BEST PRICE FOR YOUR OLD CAR

Deep clean your car

The first thing a buyer is going to notice when they consider purchasing a car is how it looks and smells. It's worth taking the time to deep clean your car, inside and out, so that the vehicle is at its best. It allows the buyer or vehicle inspector to clearly see the vehicles condition to help get you the best price for your car.

If you're going to do the job yourself, it is important that you wash, dry and wax the exterior of the vehicle, whilst also polishing any glass to leave the car sparkling. On the inside, make sure to vacuum all over including under the car seats and finish by polishing all interior surfaces.

Check your MOT

A car that has an MOT that's due to expire within three months of its sale could decrease its value. If you choose to trade your car in, it is possible to sell your car with as little as two week's MOT remaining on the day of inspection, but if a private buyer is looking at purchasing a vehicle and they are aware that they will have to pay for an MOT shortly after, as well as any issues it may reveal, they are likely to offer less money as a result.
