Students Need to Keep Up-to-Date

According to the RAC, almost half a million students in the UK could be running the risk of a hefty fine by failing to update their driving licence and vehicle documents. Drivers moving into new student digs could face fines of up to £1,000 for not supplying authorities with their new address details. To make sure they avoid a fine, students should register any address changes with the DVLA to ensure their driving licence, vehicle log book (V5C) and tax details remain up-to-date. As well as permanent moves, this includes all temporary address changes such as moving into university halls - and the same principle applies for car insurance, too as switching postcodes can have significant implications on your premium, and level of cover you receive. It is therefore essential that students inform their providers of any changes of address.
